This year was the first year for the U15 to be scouted for Team Canada U16 Team. This division had 5 teams from across Canada, 3 from Ontario, 1 from British Columbia and 1 from Alberta.

In round robin play the West Coast Wolverines went undefeated and advanced with a bye to the “A” Championship game. In the “A” Semi Final game we had the Edmonton Red Wings take on the Penetang Blazers and with Edmonton defeating Penetang by the score of 2-1, the Red Wings advanced to take on the undefeated West Coast Wolverines in the “A” championship game. Penetang took home the bronze medal from the semi final game.

In the “B” pool it was a all Ontario final with the Beeton Xtreme defeating the Belleville Bulls by the score of 2-1 to win the “B” Gold medal and Belleville taking home the “B” silver medal.

In the “A” championship game the Edmonton Red Wings came from behind twice to tie the game after regulation time 5-5. In overtime both teams had ample chances to put the game away as they were going up and down the floor for 2 overtime periods and when it was over it was still tied. Next we go into a shoot out, both teams having the first 5 players to go thru in the first round. The Red Wings went first, and both teams continued going thru their first set of players, as we got down to the last 2 players and nobody scored yet it looked like we were going to get another set of players ready for the next round. The Red Wings sent their 5th player down the floor but were unable to score, the Wolverines sent their 5th player down the floor and pulled the goalie to the right and put the ball over the shoulder for a thrilling 6-5 shoot out win. The Wolverines took home the “A” Gold and the Red Wings took home the “A” Silver.
