TORONTO, ON –  The Canadian Ball Hockey Association and its High Performance Family announced Thursday that 25 of Canada’s best men’s ball hockey players and 8 staff members are preparing their venture to the 8th World Ball Hockey Championships from June 13- 20, 2009 in the ball hockey mad city of Pilsen in the Czech Republic.

Team Canada staff was very busy in 2008 scouting various events held across Canada. Thorough scouting of the Men’s “A” Nationals & Western B & C Championships in Vancouver, BC, the Eastern B & C Championships in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Regional Camps held across Canada left no stone unturned.

This attention to detail and pursuit of excellence has led to Canada’s Men’s National Ball Hockey program in winning the last four World Championships and building toward our quest to win our 5th in a row in the Czech Republic in June of 2009.

“On behalf of the Canadian Ball Hockey Association, I would like to congratulate the players and staff named today, along with their provincial associations, leagues, club teams, families, coaches and officials who have helped them along the way,” said Domenic DiGironimo, CBHA President.

“As a former player, I can say that we have assembled the best players and best sports people as a support team that I have ever seen,” stated George Gortsos the teams Head Coach. General Manager Tony Iannitto added “We will need the best to come together to deal with the rigors of the upcoming World Championships and high paced international competition.”

Team Canada management had a very hard time finalizing the final roster, however at this time we are proud to announce the 25 players and 8 Staff members selected on our National Team that will battle to complete “The Drive For Five."
